Happy Hump Day, my food-lovin’ friends!
So life has been busy, but you know what? Life has also been fun.
And hot.
The temperature has been in the 30s (celsius) all week and for once, I’m not complaining, just stating a fact. Why? Because you’ll understand this post if you put yourself in the mindset of a writer who spends most of her days indoors, and then experiences extreme heat.

Oh, and also there’s a new development about 10km from my house that has a pool, but not the pools us Gen X’ers grew up filled with kids, two overworked lifeguards and a pool that quickly feels like…soup.
Oh no, this bad boy is fancy (and pricy) and really nice. There’s two pools, but usually only one is open during the week, which is when we went, both times, because of the lack of crowds. The first time we went the no kids pool was open, but there were a few little humans around and they were delightful to watch. The second time we went there were a few kids but less than the first and the water was so warm they pretty much turned into fish.

What else…
Food & Drink
This development is a hotel and event center so there’s a restaurant, which means pretty good food made my a chef. It’s actually a distinction that matters here because when you’re a vegan traveler, you’ll find your options are often limited to salad and fries. Here in Romania you can always count on grilled vegetables on the menu to, but they are usually cooked terribly.
That was not the case here. The grilled veggies were good, really good and cooked to perfection. And best of all? They didn’t give us throwaway vegetables like onions and peppers, well they did, but we also got mushrooms, asparagus and eggplant.

and there was…fries because of course there were fries! However they were not frozen or greasy, which I counted as a big in.
There was a really creamy hummus and we paired it with a Greek lipie bread that was also a little oily, but delicious. Since I’m mostly an oil-free vegan, too much oil can send my stomach into distress but this was not one of those times.
In fact, I got into the pool again not long after our food break!
And now…the drinks!

One of the things I really appreciated about Aquarelle was their impressive menu of mocktails. I drink, but not as much as I used to but I still love cocktails and mocktails and these were really refreshing and tasty, perfect for a chill day at the pool!
As much as I love my work as a romance author and ghostwriter, I do love having a full day off from both jobs where I can relax and just spend time with friends and loved ones. These 2 days were pretty much perfection. So relaxing and just what I needed to get back to work with a clear head and a renewed sense of creativity.

Plus, I can have a ‘beach day’ without schlepping all the way to the Black Sea, which is about 300km from my house.
